Title: Tooling Design Engineer
Shift: 1st Shift, Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Salary: $30.00 - $38.00 per hour

Located in Indiana, our client is a leading manufacturer of custom steel products for diverse industries.
Tooling Design Engineer Role:
This role exists to support the Engineering team by designing the tooling used in our manufacturing process. You will act as the key bridge between the Engineering Manager and the tool room attendants, providing technical expertise and influence to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
Tooling Design Engineer Responsibilities:
Use SolidWorks and Solid CAM to design tooling that supports the manufacturing process
Ensure timely completion of design projects based on engineering and production schedules
Perform inspections of tooling and products to ensure compliance with quality standards
Support opportunities for improving tooling and product design
Serve as the primary contact for all router service, performance issues, and preventive maintenance
Communicate directly with the router operator and engineering manager for problem-solving
Develop fixtures using specified print tolerances
Support inventory audits and request necessary router items and supplies
Help lead and direct 2-3 tool room attendants who execute the designs
Tooling Design Engineer Reporting Relationships:
The Tooling Design Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager. This role will work closely with and help oversee 2-3 Tool Room Attendants.
About You:
Possess strong proficiency in CAD software, specifically SolidWorks
Have experience with CAM software (Solid CAM)
Understand and apply mechanical engineering concepts in tooling design
Have a collaborative mindset, able to make strong suggestions while understanding you are not the final decision-maker
Show experience in the fabrication of metal products (a plus)
Possess knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and quality control systems
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, designs, and models
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
Hold an associate or bachelor's degree in engineering (preferred, but not required)

Work Environment: Work in a production environment that requires safety glasses and earplugs at all times. The workspace involves temperature variations (45°F to 110°F), exposure to fumes, solvents, and dust.
