Dishwasher Job Description

Position Summary: A Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for dishes, glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, and kitchen equipment using both machine and manual cleaning methods. This role is essential to the smooth operation of any food service establishment.

Key Responsibilities

• Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using commercial dishwashers or by hand
• Sort and stack clean dishes; transport to proper storage areas
• Maintain a clean and organized dishwashing station and kitchen area
• Dispose of trash and recyclables properly
• Assist with basic food prep or kitchen cleaning tasks as needed
• Follow all health and safety regulations

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours)
• Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Manual dexterity to handle dishes and operate cleaning equipment
• Tolerance to hot, humid, and noisy environments
• Ability to work in a fast-paced setting and handle repetitive tasks

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a kitchen or dishwashing role preferred but not required
• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• High school diploma or equivalent is a plus
