In Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems, you ll help develop systems that sense, control, exploit and disseminate actionable information to warfighters supporting a variety of missions. BAE Systems is seeking a self-motivated Engineering Leader to set the engineering vision for our growing Eclipse RF portfolio. The candidate will serve as a chief engineer on a project or project family. Eclipse RF is recognized as an industry leader supplying high performance RF transceivers and systems to support demanding Software Defined Radio applications. The Eclipse RF product area of Adaptive Communications & Sensing is a leading innovator in the defense and commercial sectors, specializing in the development and delivery of open-standards based hardware and application-ready subsystems. We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary leader to join our product area leadership team as a Chief Engineer. This role will be instrumental in defining our technical strategy, leading our engineering teams, and driving the development of innovative products that meet the evolving needs of both our defense and commercial customers. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of defense industry requirements, a strong background in open-standards architectures, and a proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into compelling product roadmaps. **Responsibilities:** Responsibilities of this position include: + **Technical Vision & Strategy:** Define and champion the overall technical vision and strategy for the product area ensuring alignment with business goals and market trends, particularly within the open-standards ecosystem. + **Product Strategy & Roadmap:** Develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy and roadmap that aligns with market opportunities, customer needs (defense and commercial), and company objectives. + **Engineering Leadership:** Provide strong technical leadership and guidance to all engineering disciplines (hardware, software, systems, test, etc.), fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. + **Architectural Oversight:** Oversee the architectural design and technical integrity of all products, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and adherence to open standards. + **Technical Compliance:** Ensure all engineering activities and product developments comply with relevant defense industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements. + **Risk Management:** Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the product lifecycle, from concept through deployment and sustainment. + **Innovation & R&D:** Drive research and development initiatives, exploring emerging technologies and methodologies to maintain our competitive edge and introduce disruptive capabilities. + **Technical Review & Oversight:** Conduct rigorous technical reviews, provide expert guidance on complex engineering challenges, and make critical technical decisions. **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** + **Education:** Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, software engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline. + **Defense Industry Experience:** Minimum of 12 years of progressive leadership experience within the defense industry, specifically in engineering, product development, or systems integration roles. + **Technical Expertise:** Deep technical expertise in open-standards based hardware, software, and application-ready subsystems. + **Product Management Acumen:** Proven experience in defining, developing, and launching successful products, preferably in the defense or high-tech commercial markets. + **Leadership & Management:** Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and inspire large, multidisciplinary engineering and product teams. + **Strategic Thinking:** Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate technical capabilities into business value and compelling product offerings. + **Communication:** Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical and product concepts to diverse audiences, including customers, executives, and engineers. + **Problem-Solving:** Excellent problem-solving skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making. + **Adaptability:** Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively. **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** + Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies in product development. + Strong understanding of DoD acquisition processes and defense market dynamics. + Experience leading product development for both commercial and defense customers. + Patents or published technical papers in relevant fields. **Pay Information** Full-Time Salary Range: $133333 - $226667 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
